Meticulously crafted from the exquisite Buckeye Burl, sourced from the Buckeye tree that thrives in various regions of the eastern United States and California. This wood is notably lightweight and soft in texture. The Burl itself boasts remarkable beauty, featuring clusters of burl, captivating color variations, and distinctive character. Its palette spans from golden yellow to brown, adorned with hints of blackish-blue and even red accents.
These pens are like holding a unique piece of American history in your hands. When the pen maker turns them in his wood shop, he says it gets filled with the fragrance of bourbon. Each pen features a piece the char section of the barrel in the pen. Paired with stainless steel hardware, there is a nice solid feel to this pen, while keeping it slightly lighter than our brass fountain pen (also available in the shop).
These rollerball pens are created by a grandfather and grandson duo Jim Cantrell and Ryan Jones in their old barn woodshed in the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky.
In their words "It is one of our favorite woods to work with as it has a unique look and feel. Some have even referenced it to look like dinosaur bone. All of our Buckeye Burl comes from California."
